Get the Necessary Training to Use Your Firearms Safely and Effectively

In recent years, record numbers of people have become first-time gun buyers. However, many hesitate to carry their weapon because they know they lack the necessary training. Many others think they probably should buy a gun for self defense, but understandably hesitate to take that step because of a lack of training. And of course some people may be lacking the training, but they don't let that stop them from carrying! At Duty to Defend, we aim to reach people from all those groups and provide them with the training they need to carry a gun safely and use it effectively if necessary.

It is true that training with a firearm comes with inherent risks. We have a system that enables us to manage and minimize those risks. We want to create a comfortable and safe environment for our customers. To do this we take things at a slow pace, going step by step. We do a lot of practice before we ever even load guns. Then we unload and do even more practice before we start shooting. Our class won't turn you into a high speed, low drag operator after one day of training, but it will give you a solid foundation of gun safety and shooting skills. You will be able to build on that foundation with your own practice and be better prepared to to take other, more advanced training classes in the future.

We do not offer a CCW class. Many states require completion of a state certified course in order to get a permit to carry a concealed weapon (CCW.) Our class does not meet that requirement. CCW classes often take place entirely in the classroom, discussing important safety and legal topics mandated by the state. Our class takes place entirely on the range and focuses on safe and efficient gun handling, effective shooting, and defensive tactics. It should not be thought of as a replacement for a CCW class but as an excellent complement to a CCW class.

More and more states are adopting a "Constitutional Carry" approach, where the people are no longer required to get permission from the state to CCW. In fact that is now the case for the majority of states. But even in states that don't require a permit, we still highly recommend getting that classroom training from a qualified instructor. You may not need a permit, but you do need training! And if you only have the classroom training, you still need the range training!
