1-Day Tactical Shotgun

While they are lacking the effective range of rifles, shotguns have an amazingly successful track record when it comes to home defense. This class will train you to maximize the already impressive capability of your shotgun. It is meant to be an introductory course for new shooters and a good foundational course for experienced shooters who don't already have a lot of tactical shotgun training.

Topics covered include the four universal firearm safety rules, range safety, how to coach safety, slinging and unslinging, chamber checking and magazine checking, loading and unloading, reloading, grip and stance, marksmanship, presenting from three different ready positions, situational awareness, dealing with multiple adversaries, clearing weapon malfunctions, changing out shot for slug, and more!

Ammunition requirement is 150 rounds of birdshot, 30 rounds of buckshot, and 20 slugs. Steel ammo is not allowed. If there is a picture of a duck or goose on the box it is probably steel. If a magnet sticks to the shotgun shell (projectile end) it is a no go.

There is a lot of gear required for this class. (See the "Prepare for a Class" page for a complete list.) You can bring any style of shotgun, but the curriculum is geared towards pump guns and semi-autos. Your shotgun must have a sling, and a minimum 4lb trigger.
